Place the milk, granulated sugar and instant coffee crystals (or espresso powder) into a medium sized mixing bowl.
Using a hand mixer (on low speed) or a wire whisk, mix these three ingredients until the sugar and coffee crystals are dissolved. This will take about 1-2 minutes.
STIR in the heavy whipping cream and the vanilla extract.
Once all ingredients have been combined, pour the ice cream mixture into the canister of your ice cream machine, and freeze according to manufacturer's instructions.
